breaking the ice

Thought I'd see if I could wake this board up with a round of introductions.

I'm Daniel; I live in NYC but work at an enterprise software company in Boston I helped start in 1999. My professional interests are mostly in information retrieval; I also have a strong personal interest in understanding people's systematic irrationality.

"understanding people's systematic irrationality"... Hee hee... That's a good one. When you DO figure it out, you can write a best-selling self-help book. Good luck!

I'm Anca. I graduated in 1995 and am now hanging around the Bay Area making money off this "internet" thing. Interests include what you see in my profile and my tribes.

Aside from being a blast as an undergrad (Your mileage may vary, however) going to MIT has put me in contact with some of the most interesting people I can imagine.

    Hi there,

I attended undergrad from '92-'96. Originally from Toronto, I now live in Dublin with my Irish husband, working in computational linguistics. Classical music is my main hobby, as is reading.

(I obviously don't look at all my Tribes very often.)

I graduated from MIT with a Ph.D. in geophysics in 1988 and somehow ended up working for Senator Al Gore, first in the Congress and then at the White House. I am now Director for Internet Technology and Strategy at IBM and having a good time trying to figure out what the next generation of the Internet will be like. (If you have any ideas, please let me know.)

See my profile for (many more) details.

I just graduated 10 days ago with a Master of Science degree in Engineering and Management. I haven't, I've got to say, done a lot with it, yet.
I'm from Southwestern Connecticut, served in the Peace Corps in Kenya 89 - 91, took up the cello in '99, what have you.
I've enjoyed my time here at MIT. One of the cool things about it is my office, which I'm still in. I did my thesis and my research at the Center for Innovation in Product Development in E60, which looks right out on the Charles river. Nice.

    I'm game!

I graduated in '97 with MEng in Computer Science. I then came out to SF Bay Area and worked during the dot-com of startups and the dot-bust. I primarily have done software design and development but am inching my way to doing more in the way of product development and strategy, and looking to get hooked into one of the startups that are cropping up.

I'm always interested in knowing more people from MIT. So many of the people I used to know out here have dispersed across the US!
